In the statement, posted to his official Twitter account, the actor acknowledged there being rumours about his sexuality in the industry and beyond.
"I have loved and had romantic encounters with men throughout my life, and I choose now to live as a gay man", Kevin said in the statement.
The tweet also briefly addressed allegations of sexual misconduct against 'Star Trek: Discovery' actor Anthony Rapp.
"I'm beyond horrified to hear his story", it said. "If I did behave then as he describes, I owe him the sincerest apology for what would have been deeply inappropriate drunken behaviour".
