Additional screenings of ‘From All Sides’ will follow the Yarraville Q&A screening. The film enjoyed a sold-out screening at Queer Screen 2025, and was the Runner Up Audience Choice, with SBS securing the Australian broadcast and digital rights.

The film is scheduled to screen on SBS platforms later in 2026.

‘From All Sides’ tells the story of a married, multiracial, bisexual couple from Western Sydney. Anoushka and Pascal maintain and open relationship while juggling jobs and raising two teenage children. Anoushka is a former professional dancer who now works in the not-for-profit sector, where she’s tokenised by her white colleagues.

When her daughter, Nina, seeks her help in applying for a prestigious dance school, it catapults the entire family into parallel journeys of cultural and sexual awakenings – amidst a minefield of race relations and class tensions.

The film is the feature directorial debut from Australian writer and director Bina Bhattacharya. It premiered to rave reviews, and was even picked up for inclusion in the Queer Screen Mardi Gras Film Fest Showcase in Cannes.

It’s a subversive, sexually frank drama about a seemingly average, suburban, middle-class, multiracial family. . . Featuring steamy orgies, extramarital hookups, and dazzling classical Indian dance sequences.

“We have been blown away by the response for this film from Australian audiences,” Writer/Director Bina Bhattacharya says. “Since our festival screenings, we have been inundated with questions from fans of this film as to where they can catch it. I'm delighted that The Sun Theatre in Yarraville and other independent cinemas have been so enthusiastic about offering a theatrical experience for a new Australian film, in a climate where even big films are struggling to be seen on cinema screens.”

‘From All Sides’ screen at The Sun Theatre (Yarraville, VIC) followed by a Q&A on 30 January. The film will then have a theatrical release before broadcast/streaming on SBS from July.
